You may have heard about a group from DSHS that came up with the “Show us Your Heart” campaign as part of their CFD efforts this year. One could only guess the significance of such a fun and creative idea. But no one could have anticipated this true story about a fellow state employee and her young daughter Karlee.

“I can’t even tell you how much this picture symbolizes.  My 3-month-old daughter, Karlee, was awaiting a heart transplant and on 2-12-09, we got the call at 1:00 am that a heart was on the way.  When I called my co-workers at 9:00 am, they told me they were all wearing “Red for Karlee” in hope she got her heart soon….they had NO IDEA that day I was calling to report she got a heart!  The people in the picture are a few of my co-workers who supported me and my family all the way and without their strength….I am not sure I would be where I am today!  They are great!!!

The “Show us Your Heart” campaign is great!!!  It just hits me on a whole new level. If there is anything I can do to help or get the word out…please let me know. I want to get involved in anything I can to spread the joy of caring!!!! – Devon”

Thank you to everyone who has participated in the “Show us Your Heart Campaign” and in the CFD. Together, we can have more impact than we could think or imagine. During this Christmas season we encourage you to remember that even the simplest of kind gestures can leave a long-lasting imprint on those around you.

Have a great day!
